How to Resize a Box Vertically

Step 1
With the bottom of the box already taped, fold the top flaps down and place the item along with any packing materials inside. For this guide, we are just reusing an Amazon box.
Step 2
Loosen the knob on your [box resizer] to adjust how far the scoring wheel hangs down the box. Once the wheel is at the height you want to resize the box to, tighten the knob to secure it.
Step 3
Remove your item from the box, then rest the metal guide lip of the resizer on the folded edge of the box, with the scoring wheel and handle on the inside.
Step 4
Use the handle to push the scoring wheel into the cardboard, and slide it horizontally around all four interior walls of the box to make a continuous and level scored line. Use your other arm to brace around the box so it doesn't move while you do this.
Step 5
With your fold lines scored, cut down the four corners of the box with a [utility knife] to just past the score line.
Step 6
Place your item back into the box along with any protective packaging materials, and fold the box walls over your new score lines to test the fit. Add extra packaging materials as necessary to ensure the item does not move when the box is shaken.
Step 7 (Optional)
Trim away the excess cardboard from your newly created flaps.
Final Result
After your box has been taped, it will look something like this. That's all there is to it!
