How to Tape a Box
Disclaimer: Contains affiliate links (Learn more)
Step 1
With your box standing upside down, fold down the base flaps.
Step 2
Using a [tape gun] and [3" shipping tape], tape across the center seam, going down about 4" on either side of the box. We are using green painter's tape solely for this demonstration, because regular tape can't be seen well in photos.
Step 3
Tape along the face of one of the edge seams of the box, going down about 2-3 inches on either side. Only half the width of the tape should be on the box, the other half should be hanging in mid-air.
Step 4
Fold in the two side overhangs but leave the top overhang, then press and smooth firmly against the box to seal.
Step 5
Fold down the top overhang, then press and smooth firmly against the box to seal.
Step 6
Repeat steps 3 to 5 on the opposite edge seam.
Step 7
Flip the box over, then place your item along with any packing materials inside.
Step 8
Fold down the flaps and repeat steps 2 through 6 on the top of the box.
Final Result
And just like that, your box is taped and ready for a shipping label!
